Many families like my own are looking for cheap or inexpensive ways to keep their kids busy this summer, that are fun, but have a bit of educational value as well. Dorothy loves being read to so the Library was the perfect place to start. You may be surprised to find out how many things you can do at your local Library. We are lucky and have a brand new Library. They are still working on the landscape but you will see that in another one of my posts soon.
We signed Dorothy up for
The very first animal they learned about was the Elephant. They read the book Elmer by David McKee.
They did a neat project. Do you see Elmer?
After the craft they read another book. Now I have to put in a side story here. As soon as I saw they were doing a elephant I wanted to go right home and read "Stand Back Said the Elephant I'm going to Sneeze" by Patricia Thomas. Well wouldn't you know it that was the book they had already selected to read to the kids. I think I was more excited then the kids were over it. LOL I was just tickled pink.
This cover looks exactly like mine except mine has my name written in red crayon on the front from when I was a little girl.
Here is Dorothy showing off her Elmer.
I really enjoyed this class and look forward to the next class. They didn't tell us what it would be, but she made a guess it would be Bears. I hope you enjoyed Dorothy's first class with Animal Antics, and maybe even take the time to read one or both of these books with your children, granchildren, or neighbors kids. You can never read too much to your child.
